During our meeting on Friday, June 25th Mike Hazelbaker, a long-time Pachyderm member and founder of the Lindenwood University/Pachyderm Scholarship, introduced the 2010 scholarship recipient, Ms. Sarvinoz Hasanova, a May graduate of Francis Howell North High School who excitedly thanked the Club for its $500 scholarship award to further her education. (See below picture of scholarship founder Mike Hazelbaker, State Senator Tom Dempsey, Sarvinoz Hasanova, award recipient, Jill Zeller, Lindenwood University Admissions/Financial Aid Counselor and Club President Bernie McCann.) Ms. Hasanova will attend Lindenwood University in the fall, and plans to major in political science. Our Club is very proud of this 15-year, on-going teamwork scholarship award with Lindenwood University. We are happy to recognize and honor Mike Hazelbaker for his continued interest and tireless efforts in the education “our children” in civil government, resulting in fruitful wisdom and leadership most needed for good governance for our country's future.
4th of July Parade
Thirteen volunteer Club members maned a booth at the St. Charles River Fest/Independence Day Parade festivities on Main
Street Saturday, July 3rd and offered free ice water to the parade participants. Our Booth Chairman, Board member Tom Dannenberg, did an excellent job in recruiting 13 dedicated workers to serve over 800 hundred cups of ice water to the participants, on-lookers, including pets, in the 90 degree heat! The floats were beautiful, the participants were exuberant, and fun was had by all! We also offered voter registration services, and a young man (a Republican) registered to vote!
